High Performance for Smart Return on Investment.
After years of integrating sustainable practices into our business and incorporating high performance building techniques into our timber framed structures, Hugh Lofting expanded into construction management. Clients kept asking when we were going to extend our services from timber frames to full general contracting for high performance buildings. We finally agreed and have been overwhelmed at the interest and support for a construction team that is experienced, knowledgeable, and capable of high performance building.
We are passionate about creating better interior environments for living and working, while minimizing the built environment’s impact on our natural resources. High performance buildings offer comfort and financial benefits; they reduce energy expenses, stay warmer in winter and cooler in summer, and maintain better indoor air quality. High performance building means a smart return on an owner’s investment.
Proper construction techniques make all the difference to high performance buildings.
Hugh Lofting provides high performance building services to clients who desire highly efficient, sustainable homes and buildings. Our team can collaborate with a client’s architect or provide design services in-house. Then, our professional team of construction managers takes the lead to ensure construction adheres to best practices for the most efficient building envelopes.
Our charrette-based process brings together key elements of the building team, including the electrician, plumber, HVAC mechanics, engineers, architect, and landscape designer to ensure the smoothest design and construction process. By integrating the full team early on, and working closely with the owner, we share ideas and set sustainability and functional goals for the building and site. Building orientation and systems are addressed early for maximum energy efficiency.
Whether or not a project attains certification (e.g. LEED or Passive House), proper construction techniques ensure maximum benefit. Click to watch a video showing energy efficient window installation:
